This project is part of a broader artistic research initiative focused on the visual interpretation of narratives drawn from different cultures and Indigenous traditions.
Based on texts that reflect on the origin of the world, the relationship between humans and nature, and death, the project seeks to translate these imaginaries into a series of graphic works.
In Maya mythology, the crocodile (Itzam Cab Ain) represents the surface of the earth floating upon the primordial waters. Its scaly body symbolizes the earth’s crust. According to ancient inscriptions, its cosmic sacrifice made it possible to shape and stabilize the world, allowing humans to inhabit it.
